NetSuite SiteBuilder uses table cells to display sections of the site, and the cells in category & item lists. Layouts are hard-coded to use a specific number of category and item list cells per row. The original cart & checkout also use wide tables. This makes it impossible for normal SiteBuilder sites to be used for handheld devices. We have a solution that can use your original templates, yet still work with handhelds; all internal to NetSuite.

Originally, we spent four years developing a single-page mobile app for NetSuite SiteBuilder. It looked great but was too difficult to setup & maintain plus it couldn't contain other customizations users have added to their site. In order to maintain a consistent user experience we took all we learned making the mobile app, and applied that to creating code so normal NetSuite SiteBuilder templates can be used for handhelds.

You can keep all the customization that you've made to your templates, (and we can add a few more for you), and have your site appear properly and consistently on any screen size.

The code and techniques we developed work like magic and have unique features that only we provide. On category and item list layouts, we (surprisingly) still use table cells, as they are the best for maintaining an even height through a row, and elegantly adjust width-wise as the screen size changes. Our code is smart enough to know when to adjust the number of cells per row, and it happens in less than the blink of an eye. It also adjusts the heights of each Responsive Cell* so your site always looks great.

This is particularly important if your item list cell content can be more or less depending on the item. The item name, brief description, thumbnail, promotion elements, pricing display can all have an effect on the height of the table.

As a SiteBuilder user you are used to NetSuite's old cart and checkout pages. Though we've developed techniques to make them visually appealing, (and even add custom features), that cart and checkout is not responsive so it won't function easily on mobile devices.

NetSuite has a great solution freely available to you; but it takes a good deal of experience to install, set-up, & customize. However, some of the simple additions that came easily with the original checkout, like adding custom transaction body fields, takes more effort to add with the new checkout. But it works really well with handheld devices so it is worth the effort.
