BeachStore - "Everything Under the Sun"

Customizations for content and maintenance ease.

We initially moved BeachStore from a Yahoo store long ago, and have updated it yearly ever since. The left navigation uses NetSuite's normal navigation, (automatically created based on the site category structure) but is heavily modified via code to look distinctive. BeachStore uses Saved Searches to populate their Shop by Brand categories, and a custom navigation for the left sidebar is automatically created.

Other customized features include: automatic thumbnail images for category list cells; a 'quick view' & promotional elements, & matrix color swatches on items list cells; extra zoomable images, videos, specifications, other category list & more on the item detail template. It's extensive.

In 2017, the site was changed to be responsive (using our exclusive Responsive Cells*) and even more custom features were added. A bar top bar in the item detail page when you scroll past the Add to Cart button means the user does not have to scroll back up to order (which is especially important for handhelds) & receives notification when the item has been added. "Item Groups" were added to make maintaining the site and related items even easier! NetSuite's responsive cart and checkout were installed and customized (including displaying shipping methods by price, and our ship method tips).

*Responsive Cells: We create responsive item list cells completely differently than anyone else. The cells expand horizontally until an additional cell can be added. It is graceful and barely noticeable. Our cells also expand vertically, meaning you can have different amounts of information in each cell, yet ALL the cells in any given row are all the same height. Finally, our method encourages two cells per row on handhelds in portrait mode, instead of everyone else's single cell per row. Makes shopping easier. And best of all they still use normal NetSuite SiteBuilder templates and layouts. Check them out; our responsive item list cells are fantastic!
